Campus Winter Residential Review

In mid October we were blessed with a wonderful autumn residential led by Aaya and Sundus Miladi at Markfield Conference Centre. We began with a warm welcome and exciting icebreakers. Over the rest of the weekend, speakers engaged us in conversations about:

– Decolonising the Muslim Mind (Ustadh Adnane Majid)
– Taddabur (Ustadh Mustafa Razzak)
– The Islamic Golden Age (Salah Ayub)
– Ibn Khaldun (Dr. Shamim Miah)
– Navigating the AI Slop Epoch as Muslims (Aaya Miladi)
– … and group work within real world political simulations!

In between talks, we prayed in Markfield’s beautiful mosque and heard beneficial reminders from campus members.

We also ate delicious food together, and even embarked on a sunrise walk by the lake. The sunlight beautifully dancing on the water encapsulated the enchanting atmosphere of the whole residential. ✨

After a joyous formal dinner on Saturday centred around the theme of the Islamic Golden Age, we raised money for a worthwhile charity through a homemade bake sale. The evening ended with arts, crafts and an array of games!

It was genuinely wonderful to see so many happy faces, both new and familiar, throughout the weekend. We feel incredibly blessed to have gathered safely for the sake of Allah swt. May Allah bless the organisers, all who attended, and protect the ummah. May He accept all the efforts put into this residential. Ameen. 🤲🏽
