On Saturday 18 May, ISB Connect had the pleasure of hosting another networking event for graduates and early career individuals, alhamdulillah. Although this was now our third event we’d held like it, it was our first event in the North, in Manchester and our first event with
sponsorship from MCR Properties.
We invited speakers Aneel Mussarat, Afzal Khan, Dr Shameela Islam-Zulfiqar and Saima Alvi to talk about their careers so far, challenges they’ve faced and how they’ve overcome them and how they’ve contributed to building resilient communities. It was such a privilege to be able to learn and absorb wisdom from such inspirational people.
It was an even greater privilege to be able to do so with such like-minded, open and ambitious young people and learn. What I, and lots of others, found most beneficial was the chance to talk and discuss with one another as well as the speakers and mentors at the event in a welcoming and warm environment.
I’m so proud of how far ISB Connect has come in just three in-person events and a handful of online mentoring sessions. I cannot thank the team and anyone who has had a hand in making these events a success enough. Inshallah we get to continue growing and offering this space to connect to more people.
