This Ramadan Guide for Schools is a useful guide for teachers in both primary and secondary schools to understand more about Ramadan and its rituals.
Schools Outreach
This is one of ISB’s flagship projects, which has been developed over a decade and has far reaching impacts. The project has developed resources and training to enable individuals to engage with primary and secondary schools to supplement and enhance their teachings of Islam within the national curriculum, through interactive assemblies, classroom workshops and Mosque visits.
A collaboration between ISB, Equilibria, MCB and Altrincham and Hale Muslim Association, we organise training for imams, mosque committees and communities to deliver interactive, dynamic and immersive school visits!
We train people to:
- Lead dynamic and fun mosque/school workshops.
- Increase confidence
- Connect with other presenters locally

The quality of current teachings of Islam in schools varies significantly. It will often rest on individual teachers and the ability of local Muslim individuals and organisations to understand the needs of the syllabus and to have the necessary skills to deliver age-appropriate teachings. The challenge of delivery increases with the age of the groups being taught.
For 10 years, we have been running mosque-based workshops for school students around South Manchester. Now we want to expand our successful model to your local communities and provide training help teachers deliver the RS curriculum at Primary or Secondary Schools.

There is huge demand from schools and teachers for engaging visits to places of worship.
- Lead dynamic and fun mosque/ school workshops. This session will focus more on primary schools with an introduction to secondary schools

- Help teachers deliver the RS curriculum at Primary or Secondary Schools
Person Specification
We are looking for volunteers who:
- Are highly motivated
- Have good command of English language
- Have good communication and organisation skills (to be able to work with schools and/or mosques effectively)
- Can work in a team and enjoys working with people
- Have spare time during the school day
- Have a desire to develop the skills to present
- Are committed to raising awareness about the Muslims faith and community
- Presenters should have an understanding of basics of Islam and represent the mainstream views of Muslims
- Presenters who are from minority Islamic positions should declare this to the school. They should present mainstream Islam according to the GCSE syllabus
For secondary schools:
- Can think on one’s feet
- Have an interest in contemporary issues and current affairs
- Can break down complex topics into bite-sized chunks and is able to communicate with children and young people in a way they can understand
