Campus Midlands Iftar
Campus Midlands held an iftar at the Selly Oak Quaker House with the Mayor of Solihull Shahin Ashraf MBE as our keynote speaker and a bake sale for Children Not Numbers.
The event began with Asr followed by a humbling Qur’an recitation by Hishaam. Our co-ordinator Aadam then spoke on what Campus is and has coming up followed by a talk from our Campus mentor and tarbiyah lead Dr. Rizwan. The talk was broad and placed us nicely in the spirit of Ramadan, dua, fasting and giving.
Mayor Shahin Ashraf spoke emphatically on leadership, taking the initiative and standing strong while being true to your values – even if you’re doing so alone.
Our guest charity encouraged us to consider blood and stem cell donations.
After dhikr, we enjoyed iftar and a hearty meal of biryani.
Tea and desert from the bake sale made for a sweet ending with donations coming to £136.25. Optional Taraweeh led by our own young reciters concluded the gathering. Alhumdulillah.
